Final Project- Updated Logo
This is the new logo that I have designed. I think that this is a very unique and different type of logo. It really goes
with the color scheme of the title screen I had created previously. This took
me a while to make and I am really happy with how it came out.

gym final
This is the final part of my gym that I had made. Here, I
think that I did a good job creating all of the weights and the court. I put a
lot of effort and detail into everything. There are some features such as the
glass doors, the lights, and the glass wall which I didn’t take pictures of but
they were a big challenge while creating this. I really like how it came out
and I believe that animating this during my final will be challenging but if I
can pull it off in that amount of time, I think it will be interesting and
really good. I hope you enjoy this and please feel free to leave some comments
to help me improve in the future, thanks.

Final Animation Sequence.
This is my final animation scene. I really think, for the
time I had, that this came out really well. I really like the way the
celebration came out at the end. This is what will most likely happen as soon
as the player clicks one of the buttons on the home screen. The ball will drop
into his hand and then he will do a hook shot then celebrate since the game is
called HookShot. I think the animation could be smoother and I could add more
props such as other players or something for him to lean against but still, I
am really happy with what I accomplished with this time. Please feel free to
leave comments, I like knowing what else could be improved.

Research Phase
This is the character that I have been animating and what I have been working on lately. First he's standing there and once the player clicks on what he wants the animation will play where the ball falls down, he catches it, and does a hook shot. After that motion he does a fist pump to celebrate. I plan on making the other assets in Maya as I go along.

Updated Maze
This is my new upgraded maze. I decided to add in a lot more
than there was originally. As you can see in these pictures, I have added in
torches and given it more of a realistic look with the lighting I decided to
use. The torches were all shaped and made from polygons and transformation tools.
I also upgraded the textures that were involved in this maze and decided to
change the doors to more of an arch look and give them a special frame. I did
all of these updates in Maya and created everything from what I have learned in
the past. I hope you like this maze as much as I do. Please feel free to leave
any comments you might have.

Upgrading the Maze Research Phase

After learning the new materials and different ways I can
upgrade my maze, I decided to look at Assassin’s Creed 3, the game I was
referencing while using my maze. While looking at this, I noticed the way there
are little corners and passage ways in the underground tunnels that ultimately
lead you to another door or to a path you already crossed. Also, while going
through these mazes, there are lanterns which you should light to know which
way you already went/came from. But then I really dug into it to see what I can
use to make my maze look better. To do this I first looked at the walls. The
walls in these tunnels are very different have slight cracks in them as well to
give them an aged look. While passing through a door, the walls stay consistent
and flow nicely. I really like the arched passage ways but I am unaware of how
I could do that. If I could pull it off though, I believe that would add
something extra to my maze. Also while looking at the texture on the floor, it
is obvious to see that it is not flat and had rocks, crates and other things to
fill up some of that open space. All of which are covered with a tarp or are
out in plain sight and have dirt towards the bottom to symbolize that these
have been there for a long time. Lastly, the doors and many paths create a real
feeling of being lost in the tunnels, something that I want a player or person
to feel while navigating through my maze. The most impressive part about this
underground passage system, however, comes when you put all of these together.
They all fit nicely and flow perfectly. Nothing ever seems like it isn’t
supposed to be there. The dirt on the bottom of the walls or on the bottom of
the props in the tunnels help the floor really fit in and gives it more of a
blend. Also the cracks in the walls and the old looking props give it an older
look as explained in the game. In order to make my maze better, I think I am
going to try and use a texture that looks the same on all of my walls. I am
also going to try and create a light source to go on the walls, due to the time
I am thinking it is going to be a lantern. Finally, I think I am also going to
include more props than I already have as well as fix the lighting that I have,
I want my maze to have an older look to it just like Assassin’s Creed 3. However,
there is probably a lot more I can do to upgrade my maze, so if you have any
comments I’d love to hear them.

Final Maze
These are pictures of my final maze. I think it came out
really good especially since I had little time to work on it. If I could
though, I probably would’ve liked to make a bigger maze and go more into
detail. What I am happy about with this maze though is the “broken” pieces of
wood to look like broken crates like I designed in the story to this maze. I
made each individual piece look as good as I could make them and different from
the others that are in the maze. I didn’t just duplicate each piece, I spent
time on them. I also like the room I built. In the original design there was no
rook but I like how I added one to give it more than just another hallway. All
in all, even though there are some things I’d like to change, I am happy with
how everything looks in my maze. Please feel free to leave comments, I’d like
to know what else I can improve on.

Maze Texture Research Phase
Below are the textures I am going to be using in Maya. For the wall I have a brick texture which I updated/modified using the burn tool. I also have a Brick wall with doors on them. One of these doors is slightly opened to symbolize light and that you have reached the end of the maze. I also have a Brick wall with the top layer of bricks missing giving the walls an older look. Finally I have my dirt floor and my wood ceiling including in this as well. The last picture is one of all of these textures in maya and how i hope to make them look in my maze. Please feel free to leave comments on my work, I will do everything I can to try and look at them and make my maze even better.

Maze Textures Final
This is my final for the maze textures. As you can see this goes with the story well and even shows a broken crate from one of the illegal movements of good they had down there. I also added a little bit of light both on the top and bottom of the door to symbolize that there is a room through there but you cannot go in. Also, if you look at the sides of the walls meet the sides of other walls, there is a darker border there to symbolize how the shadows would be on those walls. Finally, I attempted to add a broken piece of the wall in there to show the old age of the wall. Granted, this didn't come out as I would've liked but I am still impressed about how much I was able to do in this tiny space. Overall, I am very pleased with how this came out and how this looks. In the future, I might try to improve upon how the wall to the left looks with that broken piece but still I am pleased with its turnout. Please feel free to leave any comments.
Story: After the founding of America, many immigrants, including yourself, decided to move to America in hope of starting a new life and creating a better life for yourself. However, the British presence in North America makes it hard to do your daily affairs in the Black Market, where people buy illegal trading goods. One day while working, a strange man comes up to you asking to buy some of your interesting products. After selling it to him he reveals himself as a spy for the British and calls the guards. Without thinking twice you start running and decide to take the complicated underground tunnel system that your goods are carried through to avoid incidents like these. You hope to lose the guards and find the exit before getting lost in the tunnels or caught by the British.

Example Mazes: these are the three mazes that I am thinking of creating. The first is relatively easy and has a simple structure to it. The medium is slightly harder and more complex. The hard one is the most complex consisting of two floors that a person must navigate through just to find the ending. This hard one also has passage ways that lead back to the beginning of previous trails to add extra confusion to the maze. Due to the fact that we will have to create
these mazes in Maya, this hard maze would be possible but take way too much of my time. I think I am going to create maze similar to the medium leveled maze. Even though I have 1 and a half years of experience in Maya already, I don't have the time it would take to complete a maze much more complicated than the medium leveled maze. Since I have mostly done the animating part of Maya though, this is also a new step and knowing how frustrating but fun Maya can be, I think the Medium is where I am heading and the easy is a great backup in-case things go wrong.

New Prop Final
This is my finished product. I spent countless hours trying to make this as good as possible and trying to fill up all the extra space. I also attempted to really represent the colors in this. The lighting the shading and the borders. I like the way it came out and think that it came out really good compared to how it looked prior to everything I had done prior to shading it over again. As always, feel free to leave a comment, I'd love to hear what you think.

Pixel Prop Final/Pixel Building Research

This is my final pixel art prop drawing. I changed a the colors I was going to use previously, seen in the top left image. I also tried to make the colors flow well in the image. I had my light source coming from the top right like in class and because of this you can see the pole and top of the rim are slightly lighter. Then after talking to professor, I shaded the backboard slightly and brightened the top right. I also decided to add in the shadow of the basketball to make it look as if someone is shooting it. This helps incorporate my other prop into this as well. As always, please feel free to leave a comment, I like how this came out but any suggestions are welcomed.

Pixel Art Research Phase
This is the hoop which I tried to replicate for my Pixel art work. Since I have a fairly simple game, the only props I really have are a hoop and a basketball. Considering the Hoop is harder though, I decided to sketch that out instead. After failing several times, I finally came up with a design that I like which is the second image.
This is my sketch of the hoop. I think that I did a great job on this considering how many times I had to try to accomplish this. The colors I chose are for the rim, backboard, and pole. I chose to leave out the net since it is a street hoop and thought it would be better for the type of game I'm doing. I like this drawing as a whole and would like to know what others think so please feel free to leave a comment .

Final Title and Logo
These are my final title and logo for my game. After reading the comments, people liked the second logo but not the speckled blue. Instead, they wanted to see more of a concrete type of texture since my game was on outdoor basketball courts. This is the first image presented. However, this made the blue look a little weird and I personally didn't like it. To change this, I didn't add a texture to the blue square and thought it looked better like that. This is the second image. I also tilted it a little bit along with the letters to make it different than ordinary logos. The third and forth pictures are my old title screen, then my updated title screen. I didn't really do much since it was just text but I do think it is better than it was before. I think it all came out great and really do like it more now so thank you to those who helped me update this.

Title and Logo Concept Phase
This logo is that of 2K games. I really like this logo and think it really represents their company. After seeing it so often and hearing about them, just by hearing 2k or seeing a red square makes me think of this company. This kind of recognition is what I want people to have when they see my logo. I want them to leave the game and think about it even when they aren't playing it because it'll make them want to play it more. However, because they make several games, 2K doesn't just remind me of one game.

This logo belongs to RockStar. I personally chose this logo because I like the way they used both text and a symbol to represent themselves. It is unique and really flows into each other. In my logo, I would love to have something like this that not only sticks with the person but also is very smooth and interesting.
This logo I just found on Google and I actually really like it. The only thing i don't like is the amount of text it holds. I would rather have just 3 characters with that ball and the wind it has. I think if it were just P24 It would say less about what it's representing yes but it would also be more appealing and have a better impact on people. Finally, in my logo, I would also change the colors because the ones involved in this logo are very plane and not very interesting.
This is the last logo I chose to incorporate in my research phase. I personally hate this logo. The text is too original, there is too much of it, it doesn't stand out, and more stuff. If there is one thing I would like to stay away from while creating my logo, it would be creating one that looks like this.

These two images hold the texts that I really like. I am not good at drawing graffiti but I believe that it will go well with my game. These other simpler texts like the blocky freshman text and the one to the right I chose just in case the graffiti doesn't come out how I want it to. I also like their layout and think I could design something cool with these texts. I also like the color scheme of these texts. I thing that they really make the text pop off the screen. It is also different from the usual text one sees on a daily basis making it more interesting than normally imagined.

After my research, I drew ten concept sketches to try and get my ideas on paper. While trying to incorporate part of my title into my logo, I decided to try and mess around with the different fonts I have been thinking about and the different styles as well. I was also trying to get a logo that would really represent my game as a whole as well with just two letters or characters like the Rock Star logo or the 2K logo. At first I was aiming for just using two letters, the H and the S, so that people would think of my game as soon as they saw that symbol. However, after not being happy with the first seven logos or text designs, I took a second and looked at all the thumbnails I have drawn already and chose three texts I really liked. After doing that, I came up with the idea to change the O's in hook to basketballs in number 8, but I thought I would be leaving out the other O in shot. Then in number nine, I decided to make the O in shot the square on the backboard, but didn't really like that idea either. Finally I chose to make all the O's in hookshot basketballs, which I do really like. Not only does the logo look simple and incorporate the title, it also gives the title a little something extra in my opinion.
This the actual representation of what I hope to make/incorporate in my title and logo. After reviewing all my research and all my concept drawings, I decided to try and make the H and the S in HookShot the logo. I also made two different versions of this and in both the logo and title, I tried to incorporate an aspect of the other into each. However, I have mixed feelings about both so please feel free to leave advice and/or comments.
